Enamelware


Enamelware refers to wares that have metal bases (bodies made of iron, steel, aluminum, copper, etc.) the surfaces of which are covered with glass-like porcelain. The raw wares are fired in kilns to get colorful and durable coatings. China has a long history of enamelware production. The most famous enamelware in China is known as Jingtailai ("Jingtai Blue"), which was originally produced in Jindezhen (Jingde Town) in Jiangxi Province, during the Jingtai era of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
