A view of a village in Anhui Province, East China. The architecture is typical of residences in this part of the country. The pond in front of the village is of a half-moon shape. This reflects a traditional Chinese idea, mostly Daoist, that "Fullness is the beginning of a decline." It is, therefore, auspicious to have a half-moon shaped pond rather than one that is round in shape.
