Rapid Population Growth! Online Population That Is
According to the data recently released by China¡¯s internet-overseeing body CNNIC, China¡¯s online population has expanded phenomenally, once again. By the end of June 2002, the total number of the Chinese with internet access has reached 45.8 million. This is a whopping increase of 35.9% in just six months.
With this most recent growth, China¡¯s internet population is now the third largest in the world, trailing behind only the United States and Japan.
The CNNIC poll also indicates that the typical Chinese netizen is a male below the age of 35, who spends about 200 yuan a month for his internet connection. Given the fact that an average urban worker makes about two to three thousand yuan a month, the spending on internet services is much higher than that in the West. Obviously, the ubiquitous internet remains highly popular. Back to China Notes and News
