Emblem of the Beijing Olympic Games Unveiled At a grand gala staged at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing today, officials of the International Olympic Committee and Chinese organizers unveiled the official emblem of the 29th Olympic Games, to be held in the Chinese capital city in 2008. The emblem takes the shape of a print from a traditional stamp, the kind that Chinese painters and calligraphers often applied on their art works. The pattern in the print, an exercising athlete, is an abstract and adapted form of the Chinese character jing - as in Beijing ¨C meaning ¡°capital¡±. Back to China Notes and News
