Prince Andrew Visits China
Prince Andrew of Britain visited Chinese cities Shanghai and Beijing from April 20 to April 25. The Duke of York went on the trip as a special representative for Britain to promote international trade and investment. Acting in his official capacity the prince met with Chinese government officials, business leaders as well as college students. While in Shanghai he stopped at China’s Grand Prix Circuit, which is currently under construction; in Beijing he took a tour of the Forbidden City, where before China’s republican era the Qing imperial family resided.
The Duke of York is the first senior member of the British royal family to visit China since 1986 when his mother, Queen Elizabeth, traveled there. Back to China Notes and News
