Chinese Delegation Promotes China Tours in Australia and New Zealand
Representatives of China’s travel industry went on a marketing tour of Australia and New Zealand from May 16 to 26. The delegation was organized and led by China’s National Bureau of Tourism Administration and was consisted of 78 members representing 46 organizations in 19 provinces and municipalities. During their 10-day stay the Chinese delegates visited Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, where they put on exhibitions and engaged a series of promotional activities.
In recent years more tourists from Oceania have been traveling to China. In 2003, in spite of the adverse effects of SARS epidemic, over 245,000 Australians and 58,700 New Zealanders went on tours of China. In the first quarter of 2004, the number of Australians who traveled to China increased by 7.76% over the same period last year. Back to China Notes and News
