Number of Foreign Tourists Increases by 28% in the First Half of 2005 In the first six months this year, a total of 962.08 million foreigners visited China. This is a jump of 28% over the same period the previous year. Sixteen foreign countries see double-digit increases, including Thailand (41%), France (41%), Australia (37%), Germany (32%), Canada (25%), U.S. (21%), Great Britain (20%), and Russia (20%). South Korea saw a 39% increase, a rise big enough to make the country with the largest number of visitors to China, displacing Japan which has held that position. Back to China Notes and News
