Express Highway Links China and Vietnam An express highway is currently under construction in China’s Guangxi Province, which will improve significantly improve land transportation between China and Vietnam. The freeway extends from Nan’ning, the capital of Guangxi Province, to Youyiguan (“Gate of Friendship”), on the Sino-Vietnamese border. There the Chinese highway connects with the Vietnamese No. 1 highway, which leads to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The Chinese section of the freeway is 180 kilometers (111 miles) in length. When completed later this year as scheduled, driving time from Nan’ning to Youyiguan on the Chinese-Vietnamese border will be reduced from five hours to two. Back to China Notes and News
