New Tour Route Opened: Cruise on Lancang-Mekong River
On November 26, cruise ship Golden Peacock No. 1 went on a voyage down Lancang-Mekong River, signifying the launching-off of a new tour operation which will take tourists through a scenic region that include parts of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.
Known as Lancang River in China, the Mekong is the 12th longest-river in the world. It originates in Tibet and flows through the Yunnan province of China; further down it separates Myanmar from Laos and forms then Laos from Thailand; after cutting through Cambodia before it branches out in southern Vietnam where it forms the Mekong delta. The whole watercourse is known for its picturesque natural environs as well as rich and diverse ethnic cultures.
The new cruise is operated by Golden Peacock Tour Group. Based in Jinghong, Yunnan Province, Golden Peacock Tour Group has been acquiring and managing tourist resources in southwestern China for some years. With the opening of the new Lancang-Mekong cruise line, the company hopes to serve Chinese and foreign tourists who are interests in both China and Southeast Asia. Back to China Notes and News
