Air Canada to Offer Direct Flight to Shanghai Starting June 16, 2006, Air Canada will offer direct services from Toronto to Shanghai. The company made the announcement on January 11. There will be three weekly flights from Toronto to Shanghai, respectively on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The services back from Shanghai to Toronto will be on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Air Canada will be the only airline that provide direct flights between these two cities. Currently Air Canada is operating flights between Toronto and Beijing, Vancouver and Beijing, as well as Vancouver and Shanghai. The flight time from Toronto to Shanghai is 14 hours 45 minutes; from Shanghai back to Toronto time in the air is 13 hours 40 minutes. The new flights save passengers the trouble of making connections in Vancouver, cutting their travel time by 3 hours. Back to China Notes and News
