Urumqi-Moscow Flight Route Reopened Starting April 10 there will be direct flights from Urumqi to Moscow - again. After a year of lapse, China Southern Airlines decided to reopen the route between the western Chinese city to the Russian capital. From 1994 to 2002 China Southern Airlines operated flights from Urumqi to Moscow, with a stop in New Siberia, and from 2002 to 2005 it flied direct between Urumqi and Moscow. The service was halted last years due to cost considerations. Now as the exchanges between Russian and western China continues to expand, China Southern Airlines has chosen to resume the direct flights. There will be four weekly flights, respectively on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Back to China Notes and News
