China is number 60 on the peacefulness index
In a recent study by the Economist Intelligence Unit that ranks 121 countries in the world according to “peacefulness,” China appears at the 60th spot. Canada ranks eighth, the United States is number 96, and Russia comes in at the 118th place.
The Economist Intelligence Unit, founded in 1946, is known for its profiles of countries and industries. Its peacefulness study examines factors such as the number of violent crimes committed in a given country and the number of soldiers from the same country killed abroad.
According to the study, the top three peaceful countries in the world are Norway, New Zealand and Denmark. Rankings of some other countries of interest - Japan (5th), Germany (12th), Britain (49th), Cuba (59th), Turkey (92nd), India (109th), Israel (119th). The least peaceful country in the world, ranked at 121st, is Iraq. Back to China Notes and News
