Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: Do I need a converter of some type to be able to recharge my digital camera?
| | A: Electric in China is 220 volt, 50 Hertz. Some rechargers work with electric power within a certain range of voltage - for example, 100-240v. If that's the case with your campera recharger (or rechargers for laptop computers, etc.), you can use it the way you use it in the U.S. If not, you need to have a converter to lower the voltage from 220v to 110v (the latter being standard in the U.S.).
You may also want to think about plugs. In China there is a variety of power outlets and plugs in use - two prongs, three prongs, flat blade, round blade, so on and so forth. You may want to bring along a plug adapter designed for international travel.
