Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: I am a Malaysian, travelling to Macau and Shenzen via Air Asia's holiday package. This is a 4 days, 3 nights tour, arriving & departing from Kuala Lumpur to Macau airport. Do I need to apply for tourist visa? Hope to hear from you soon.
| | A: Citizens of Malaysia can enter and stay in Macau for up to 30 days with no visa.
To enter China proper, of which Shenzhen is a part, visitors need to have visas. Individual tourists can apply for their visas at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country, or apply at various offices and travel agencies in Hong Kong or Macau. It is possible also to apply for a visa at the border cross into Shenzhen if one visits Shenzhen only. But this is not a sure thing and seems to be country-specific, that is, it depends on of which country you are a citizen. It's better, of course, to have a visa before one sets out on a trip.
Those who travel on a tour arranged by a travel agency can ask the travel agency to handle their visa. Sometimes the travel agency can arrange group visas for the tourists in their group. For instance, tourist groups from Hong Kong can visit Shenzhen for up to 72 hours with no visa. Ask you travel agency about this.
