Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: I want to travel from Beijing to the city of Wuhan in the provinces of Hubei. Can you send me information on train times or anything of that sort. Thank you very much.
| | A: The distance between Beijing and Wuhan is approximately 1,225 km (760 miles). There are many train services from Beijing to Wuhan, which depart during the day and night. The faster of these trains travel from Beijing to Wuhan in about 10 hours whereas the slower ones cover the distance in about 16 hours. You may want to consider getting a sleeping berth, given the travel time, especially if it is an overnight train.
Keep in mind that, with one or two exeptions, trains bound for Wuhan depart from Beijing West Railway Station (Beijing Xi Zhan) instead of the older Beijing Railway Station (Beijing Zhan). There is no Wuhan Railway Station. The trains from Beijing arrive at Wuchang Railway Station. The city of Wuhan is consisted of three parts, sperate from one another by rivers - Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang.
You can also fly from Beijing to Wuhan. Flight time is about two hours. It costs more to fly than to travel by train.
