Q: What is the distance in miles (or kilometers) from Chengdu to Yidu in Hubei province?
| | A: You must be referring to Chengdu the capital city of Sichuan Province and Yidu in western Hubei province, which is located slightly south of Yichang, a larger city.
The easiest way to travel from Chengdu to Yidu seems to fly. There are flights from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Yichang Sanxia Airport (four days a week, not everyday). Flight time is one hour and fifteen minutes. Yidu is close to Sanxia Airport, roughly 20 km (a dozen miles or so). You can take a bus at the airport to go to Yidu.
There is no direct train service between Chengdu and Yidu (or Yichang). Yidu is too far alway from Chengdu to go by long distance bus. One can travel by boat going down Yangzi River to Yichang. This would be the way to go if you're planning to do the sightseeing of the Three Gorges anyway. In that event, you first travel (by train or bus) from Chengdu to Chongqing. You board your cruise boat in Chongqing and then go with the flow. Normally it takes about two or three days for these sightseeing boats to reach Yichang. There are also fast boats (hydro jet) that can take you from Chongqing to Yichang in about 12 hours, without giving you the opportunities of stopping over on the way. From Yichang to Yidu it is about a bus ride of one hour.
If you are not interested in doing the Three Gorges cruise, flying seems to be the easiest way to travel from Chengdu to Yidu.
