Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: Is it necessary to get a visa to visit Hong Kong this year for a period of two weeks? 6/2008 My son will go in August 2008 for two weeks.

A: Citizens of the United States (and those of many other countries) can visit and stay in Hong Kong for up to 90 days with no visa required. The Beijing Olympic Games should not affect this situation since Hong Kong and Mainland China China have always had different visa requirements. If you want to make sure, check at the Chinese diplomatic or consular office that is close to you. In the United States, there are Chinese consulates in Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, and Houston.
