Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: How can I go from Wuhan to Yichang, the city next to the Three Gorges Dam? How long is the trip?
| | A: There are long distance buses running between Wuhan and Yichang. They leave every thirty minutes or so, from early morning into late evening. There are different kinds of buses, you want to take the coaches of the express service, which travel on the freeway, are air-conditioned, and go directly from Wuhan to Yichang instead of making a lot of stops in between. The cost is about 100 Chinese dollars, or US$12-15. The Long Distance Bus Station is in Wuchang. Wuhan is consisted of three major disctircts, separated by two rivers, the Yangzi and Han: Wuchang, Hankou, Hanyang. You can see where the name Wuhan came from.
There are also passenger ships going up and down the Yangzi river between Wuhan and Yichang. They're rather slow of course.
