Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: Can you please let me know bus service from and to Hong Kong and Dong Guang?
I am Indian passport holder HK permanent I/D card holder, can I get visa on arrival at Dong Guang for a one day visit. Thanks.

A: Chinese regulations on travel between Hong and mainland China distinquishes between permanent residents of Hong Kong who are Chinese citizens and permanent residents of Hong Kong who are not Chinese citizens. HK permanent residents who are Chinese citizens can apply certain passes to enter and exit mainland China, regardless if they're also citizens of other countries.

As for visa upon arrival, under certain cricumstances aliens with valid passports who bear letters or telegrams from authorized organizations in China may apply for visa at entry ports if they're short of time. Qualifying circumstances including being inviting over for business and contractual work, visiting sick people, last-minute change of plan for a traveling group, etc.

There are shuttle buses between Hong Kong and Dongguan. The ride costs about 200 Chinese dollars, that is about 30 to 40 US dolars. You may find further information here: http://www.dgfipc.gov.cn/english/topic/index.asp. Maybe you could ask the hotels where the buses stop for further information.

For info on transportation in Hong Kong, you may contact Citybus: http://www.citybus.com.hk/eng/main.asp.
