Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: Where does the ferry between Yangshuo and Guilin stop and what is the schedule? I would like to combine hiking and cruising, but can't locate the stops and times for both directions.
| | A: There are two docks from which cruise boats on Li River depart. The one at Zhujiang, which is about 25 kilometers (17 miles) outside Guilin, is mostly for foreign tourists. The other departure dock is at Mopanshan, which is mostly for native Chinese. In Yangshuo, the arrival dock for foreign tourists is Shuidongmen, which is close to Xijie (West Street); the arrival dock for Chinese is Longtoushan, which is about 20 minutes' walk to West Street. On average, in low seasons, there are about 20 boats cruising down the river a day while in high season, about 70 a day. The boats depart at various times; the cruise lasts about four hour. So a boat that leaves at 10:00 am will arrive in Yangshuo at about 2:00. In a particular dry season, the departure dock may be moved down stream, to a place called Yangdi. It's easy to rent bycles in Yangshuo and pedal around.
