Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: Hotels in Guangzhou seem to be expensive during the Export Fair. I am thinking of staying in Shenzhen and commuting by train to GZ each day and back. Would this be advisable? What trains and what are the fares for Shenzhen-Guangzhou and return?
| | A: Shenzhen is actually rather far away from Guangzhou -150 kilometers (100 miles) . A train ride between the two cities takes about one and a half hour. The cost is not much, just 40 yuan or so, but it's quite a bit of traveling on a daily basis, especially if you include the time going to the rail station. etc. Hotel fares are higher during the trade fair, but maybe you can find a place that is somewhere farther away from city center but is still in the Guangzhou area. There are certainly places closer than Shenzhen. Unless, of course, you have some other businesses to tend to in Shenzhen.
