Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: How much do we need to tour Bejing? We are a family of four. We intend to stay for five days. What is weather like at the end of October?

A: If you take a packaged tour from a tour operator, it is roughly US$400-600 per person for a four-to-five day tour and stay in Beijing for a group of four. It depends, of course, on what hotels you stay in and what the members' accommodation arrangement is, although hotels are normally 3-star or above. The cost would include hotel, tour guide, domestic transportation, site entry fees, some meals, but not international flights. There is a difference between a private tour (your family with your own guide) and a join-in tour (your family along with other tourists sharing transportation and guide). The former is of course more flexible. For a couple of hundred dollars and a couple of days more, you probably could throw in another city as part of your tour.

Average high and low temperatures in Beijing in October are 20 C (68 F) 10 C (50 F). In November they're 10 C (50 F) and -1 C (30 F).
