Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: I'd like to take the train from hong kong to Beijing - what are the pros and cons of this?

A: Pros: You get to see a bit more of China, even though it may not be the best views. If you get a soft-berth, it is relatively confortable to travel by train, and you may also find opportunities to mix a little with fellow travelers.

Cons: It is a long ride, 24 hours. Train leaves in the afternoon and arrives in the afternoon the next day. If you fly, it's three hours or so.

As for cost, a soft sleeper from Hong Kong to Beijing would cost about 600 Hong Kong dollars. A Flight costs more.
