Q: Is there a sleeper bus from Guangzhou to Xiamen? How long does it take to get there? How many buses a day are there?

A: A dozen or so buses leave Guangzhou for Xiamen every day. Operated by various companies, they depart from Tianhe Bus Station. The ride lasts about 9 hours, covering 800 kilometers (500 miles). It costs about 220 Chinese yuan or US$30.

Travelers can also travel from Guangzhou to Xiamen by train. One train leaves about 7:00 pm and arrive in Xiamen about 10:00 in the morning. It would be nicer to travel by train, it seems (go by soft sleeper). The cost would be roughly te same.
