Q: Does a Chinese National need a visa to travel from China to Hong Kong?

A: Chinese nationals, either holders of P.R. China passports or holders of ROC (Taiwan) passports who live overseas need to apply for entry permits to visit Hong Kong. They can apply at a Chinese diplomatic or consular mission nearest to their place of residence or apply by mail through the Immigration Department of Hong Kong. Those who are in tansit through Hong Kong another country may be granted to stay for seven days upon landing without the said permit provided they have certain documents, such as confirmed onward booking.
