Q: We have the plan to China 1 week. Would you please advise us for transportation, how long doe it takes, and how much does it cost? Macau - Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Shantou -Shenzhen to Macau City - Hong Kong - Macau City
| | A: With the exception of Shantou, the destinations you have in mind are not too far away from one another and you can travel among them bus or train or ferry/jetcat, and ride time is one or two hours. Macau Ferry Terminal, for instance, is just about 10 minutes' drive away from Macau Airport (Macau is a small place anyway), where a Jetcat can take you over to Hong Kong in less than an hour. Global Express Travel Holding (Macau) operate buses from Macau to Guangzhou (tel. 853 881228).
As for Shantou, you can fly from Guangzhou; flight time is short of one hour and the cost is approximately 700 yuan per adult for a return ticket. You can travel by train from Shenzhen to Shantou; ride time is about eight hours and an one-way soft berth costs about 200 yuan. We assume you go to Shantou to visit relatives or do business, so you probably know already how many days you want to spend there (if you go by train, two nights on the road - leave around 10 pm and arrive the next morning, both ways). In terms of tourist values, the order of the rest cities is probably Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. But really it depends what you enjoy doing. If you're into betting, for instance, you may just hang around the casinos in Macau. Hong Kong is an international city and has some nice restaurants, shops, etc. In Shantou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen you'll probably find some cheaper goods, though.
It will take some efforts to coordinate all the trips and accommodation since you have a few destinations in a week.
