Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: Is there a bus from Hong Kong international airport to the trian terminals bound for Beijing? How much is the fare? Are there trians from Shenzhen to Beijing? Thank you !!

A: You can take a bus (A21) at Hong Kong International Airport to go to Hung Hom Station, where the Kowloon-Canton Rail train departs for Beijing. The fare is about HK$35.

There is a train that travels from Shenzhen to Beijing. It departs about 10:00 am and arrive at Beijing West about 3:00 pm next day - a ride of 29 hours. There are more trains that depart in Guangzhou and go to Beijing, and a couple of them are faster trains - 23 hours or so. The cost is about 700 Chinese dollars for a soft berth. But of course if you go by the train from Hong Kong (Hung Hom station in Kowloon), you don't have to go to Shenzhen or Guangzhou first. Kowloon-Beijing West train leave about noon time and arrive in Beijing 3:00 pm next day. A soft sleeper cost about HK$900.
