Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: Are there trains from Hankou or Wuchang in the evening to Guilin? When would they depart and arrive?

A: There are trains that travel from Hankou/Wuchang to Guilin. One of them originates in Wuchang while about half a dozen of them originate somewhere else and stop over in Hankou and Wuchang. The one that originate in Wuchang is a slower train (13 hours) while some others get to Guilin and just over 10 hours. The fastest seems to be the one that goes from Beijing West to Nanning, with stopovers in Hankou/Wuchang and Guilin. Naturally not as many tickets are available for passengers in Wuhan on these pass through trains. The earliest of these half dozen trains leave about 3:00 am (the express train from Beijing mentioned above), and the latest about midnight (Beijing West - Guilin). There are two pass-through trains that leave about 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm respectively; their travel time to Guilin is 12 to 13 hours.
