Q: Does an Australian citizen need a visa to enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong for a day trip (not staying overnight)? If so, how do I apply and how long will it take to issue the visa?

A: Citizens of certain countrys, Australia being one of them, can transit through Shanghai without a visa if they enter and exit by Pudong or Hongqiao airport. They can stay for up to 48 hours before they move on. The traveler should have a valid passport, connection flight ticket, and visa for the destination country if applicable.
