Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: I am arriving in Hong Kong on Sunday 22nd Jan in the evening. I am a UK passport holder and I want to know if I can get a landing visa to go to Shenzhen on the Sunday evening from Hong Kong airport.

A: It is doubtful that you'll be able to secure a visa to visit mainland China right after you arrive in the evening. You can apply for a China visa in Hong Kong but normally it takes at least one working day. If you're traveling as a member of a tourist group, you can visit Shenzehn without a tourist visa and the matter should be taken care of by the tour operators, but that does not seem to be your case. Travelers can apply for visa after flying into a Chinese city, but that's for those who are in a hurry and have proper documents (telegram, business invitations, etc.). Does that apply in your case? There is a chance that you have to have to stay overnight in Hong Kong to apply for your visa.
