Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: I am visiting Guangzhou 28Jan-30Jan. How about the shops and markets, are they closed or having limited opening hours. Is the city crowded during that weekend? What about the airport, do I have to take longer time for getting there at 30Jan morning?
| | A: Government offices will be closed for the Spring Festival celebration. There is no stanard on whether businesses will be closed or having shorter hours. One should expect, however, fewer businesses open, especially for the first few days of the seven day holiday (officially from January 29 to Februrary 4). The most important day is January 29, which is the Chinese New Year Day this year. Traffic on the 30th should not be all that bad, as most people will spent much of the seven-day holiday with their families. Need to check to make sure you can get a cab a catch a bus to get you to the airport.
