Q: I want to visit kazakhstan from Shanghai in March 2006. Is it possible for me to travel by road from Shanghai to Kazakhstan. Please guide me how many hours it takes, how much it costs, how it is possible.

A: You can travel by train from Shanghai to Urumqi in Xinjiang, China, and then board the train that goes from Urumqi to Almaty, Kazakhstan, or take a long distance bus there in Urumqi. The train ride from Shanghai to Urumqi lasts about 47 hours.
