Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: I want to get from Guilin to Hong Kong but not by flying - either by train or train and sail or hovercraft...

A: You can travel by train from Guilin to Guangzhou, where you can take of the speed boats (or buses or train) to get to Hong Kong. You can also go by train from Guilin to Shenzhen, which is even closer to Hong Kong. Unfortunately the two trains from Guilin depart in the evening and arrive in Guangzhou/Shenzhen the next morning, which means you don't get to see a whole lot landscape on your way - if that's your intention.
