Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong. It can take place in April or October. Weather-wise, which time is better for a visit to the city?

A: In terms of weather in Hong Kong, April is not much worse than October. In April it generally rains more than in December through February, and it is also more humid than it is in winter and than it is in the months of October and November. But March, April and May are considered better months, along with October and November, than the hottest
summer months, from June through September.

Average temperature in March-April-May: 23°C (73°F); humidity 82%.

In June-September: temperature may rise to 33°C (91 °F) with humidity
around 90%.

In October-December: More clear sunny days. Average temperature is
around 23°C (73°F) and humidity about 72%.

So weather in October seems to slightly better, but not by a whole lot. These are of course just general patterns and it is difficult to predict for sure what sort of weather you'll run into when you're there. There are probably many other factors that affect your travel plan.
