Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: We will be on a cruise and will be in Shangai and Beijing. How long does it take to get into these cities from where the ship will dock?

A: A new international passenger port is being constructed at Gaoyang port in Shanghai. Some ships now dock at Huishan port, which, like Gaoyang, is on the Huangpu River and inside Shanghai. Some larger international cruise ships dock at Waigaoqiao, which is on the Yangtze River and is approximately 25 (16 miles) kilometers to downtown Shanghai. As for Beijing, given the city is not a port, cruise ship probably dock at Tianjin Xigang (Tianjin New Port), which is 160 kilometers (100 miles) or two hours' ride to Beijing.
