Q: What is the procedure for a Chinese national to get a visa to visit Hong Kong?

A: Citizens of many countries, including Britain and US, do not need visa to visit Hong Kong if the visit is shorter than certain days (180 days for British citizens and 90 days for US citizens).

Oversea Chinese with Chinese passports can travel through Hong Kong and stay there for as many as 7 days without visa/permit. For longer stays, the visitor must aplly for permit at local Chinese consulates.
