Q: We will go to Macau next month but our hotel is in Shenzhen. I like to know how far and how much from macau airport to Shenzhen. Thank you for your help.
A: There are shuttle buses that depart from Macau International Airport and travel to places such as Guangzhou and Dongguan, but there doesn't seem to be direct buses to Shenzhen (you may want to look into this). The reason for this may be that, given Macau and Shenzhen are located on two sides of the Pearl River Mouth, land connection is a kind of an arch. There are ferry services between Macau and Shenzhen. Think about which part of Shenzhen you need to be; one ferry service takes travelers to Fuyong terminal close to Shenzhen Airport, which is still some distance from Shenzhen city itself. Generally it takes about an hour to go from Macau to Shenzhen by ferry service. Costs varies depending on the class of seats; roughly 100 Macau dollars for economy. Also it is possible to consolidate customs cheching so that you just go through customs once (otherwise you'd be entering Macau, getting out of Macau and entering Shenzhen which part of China proper). You can also go to Gongbei from Macau Airport and then travel by bus to Shenzhen from there. Gongbei is part of the Chinese city Zhuhai which borders Macau. You can take a bus to get to Gongbei (20-30 muinutes or so) where you go through customs. Then you get on a long-distance coach that travels to Shenzhen. The coach service is costs about 100 Chinese dollars and the ride lasts about 2.5 hours.
