Q: Do they speak English at the airport Hong Kong? I need a ticket from Hongkong to Shantou and i dont know how much it cost and where to ask, so i hope someone can help me at the airport.
A: You should have no problem find service personnel who speak English at Hong Kong airport. They should be able to tell you how to get to mainland China. The slightly more challenging part would be making the connection between Shenzhen (or Guangzhou) and Shantou, for there doesn't seem to be direct coach or train connection between Hong Kong and Shantou. You need to get to Shenzhen or Guangzhou first and board a bus or train there that travels to Shantou. Shenzhen is about an hour and a half away from Hong Kong airport and is the closer than Guangzhou. Train ride from either Shenzhen or Guangzhou lasts 7 to 8 hours. It is faster to go by bus. Fare is roughly 150-200 Chinese dollars (soft berth on train).
