Q: Please can you tell me the distance between Beijing and Qingdao and what the road and rail links are like?
A: Located on the tip of the Shangdong Peninsula, Qingdao is approximately 900 kilometers (550 miles) from Beijing. One can travel by train and by bus, but traveling by train seems to be a better way to go, certainly so for a foreigner travellingin China. Conditions of highway between Beijing and Qingao is pretty good, but it would be a long distance bus ride. Plus train is more punctual and dependable. A train ride from Beijing to Qingdao lasts about 9 hours. One leaves in the evening and arrive in the morning. It is necessary, therefore, to get a berth so that one can sleeps through the night.
