Q: Can you advise on the distance between beijing to Shanghai. Shanghai to Wenzhou and wenzhou to Shenzhen Please also advise the available trains & Flights and fares to visit these area.
| | A: The distance between Beijing and Shanghai is approximately 1,500 kilometers (900 miles). It is about 650 km from Shanghai to Wenzhou (390 miles). From Wenzhou to Shenzhen it is roughly 1,800 km or 1,080 miles. One can travel by train from Beijing to Shanghai and to Wenzhou. There is no direct train link between Wenzhou and Shengzhen. To go by train, you can travel first from Wenzhou to Guangzhou and then make the train connection or continue by bus to Shenzhen. Shenzhen is about two hours away from Guangzhou. The longest of these train rides, the one from Wenzhou to Guangzhou lasts about 28 hours. From Beijing to Shanghai train travel time ranges from 12 to 20 hours, depending on which train one's on. It takes about 500 yuan for a soft berth on a train from Beijing to Shanghai. The distance between Shanghai and Wenzhou is not as great as that between Beijing and Shanghai, but train travel time is not significantly shorter - about 10 hours. This is because trains to Wenzhou, a smaller place, travel more slowly.
One can fly among the cities mentioned above. It is of course a faster way to go but also more expensive, probably doubling the cost.
As always, the difficulty is to purchase all the tickets on a timely fashion so that you do not get stranded somewhere, especially if you're traveling by train, which can cost you a lot more. Also make sure find a right place to stay; it is different for a foreign traveler than for a local. If you've been in China for some time, that would certainly help.
