Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: Is there an sleepers train that we can take from Hongkong to Nanning, China?
| | A: There is no direct train service between Hong Kong and Nanning. One has to make a connection, probably in Guangzhou, which is about two hours away from Hong Kong. From Guangzhou to Nanning it is a train ride of about 11 hours. There should be sleeper cars. Two trains from Guangzhou arrive in Nanning a little past mid-night, which is not very convenient time. Another train leaves Guangzhou East Railway Station rather than Guangzhou Railway Station. Train tickets can be hard to come by, especially sleeper tickets and during holiday seasons, and, to make the matter worse, in most cases, train tickets can only be purchased in the city where a traveler is to aboard the train.
