Q: What is the best way to travel between Qingdao and Beijing? Bus, train, or automobile?
A: If by automobile you mean you drive yourself, that would not be a good idea. Foreigners who have not spent much time in China would find it hard to drive around in China, even there is freeway between Qingdao and Beijing an road condition is not bad. If for some reasons you must go by a car, hire a car along with a driver. It is not very comfortable to go by bus, given the distance. If you go by train, travel time between Qingdao and Beijing is 8 to 9 hours. If it is one of these overnight trains, you should get a sleeping berth. There are hard berths and there are soft berths; the latter is nicer - four berths in an closed cabin. You can also fly from Qingdao to Beijing.
