Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: My wife annd I want to visit China, can we get a visa for two months' stay?
| | A: China's tourist visa (L visa) is generally for a stay of no longer than 30 days. Single entry and doubple entry L visas are avaliable (one entry for a stay up to 30 days). Multiple-entry visa is generally not issued for this category of visa. If there is a need for a traveler to stay longer than 30 days, however, the applicant can so indicate and the visa-issuing official may consider the circumstances and issue a visa for a longer stay.
Foreigners who are invited to visit China for the purposes of business, lecture, techonological or cultural exchanges can apply for F visa, which provides for stays up to six months. Students who are going to study in China may apply for X visa, which are for stays of six-months in length or longer. Z visa is for foreigners are to be employed and work in China; J visa is for foreign journalists.
