Q: I need to get from Shanghai to Yiwu Can I fly direct and if so which airlines fly there? How much will it be by private car or taxi and how long is the journey? Thank you
A: Even though Yiwu has an airport, there does not seem to be flights from Shanghai to Yiwu. This is probably because the two cities are relatively close to each other; land transportation between the two places ranges somewhere from four to six hours. If you go by train or long distance coach, the cost will not set you back by much and is not something to worry about. It would be too long a distance for a trip in an urban taxi by the standard rates. Some taxi drivers are willing to negotiate a price and make the trip. This would be a special arrangement and one needs to look into going prices. You can also go to a car rental company and rent a vehicle along with a driver and/or an English-speaking guide; this is way you will have more control over your itinerary and of course also has the benefit of local support.
