Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: I want to know if I get tickets in advance from Shanghai-Yiwu-Shanghai, will the seats be reserved? Especially for the return from Yiwu to Shanghai since the trains are most likely transiting from somewhere else and the final stop is Shanghai. I am afraid that I have to fight for seats or even stand throughout the whole journey.
| | A: Train tikets in Chin can be purchased five days in advance (during holiday seasons such as Spring Festivals, Labor Day, National Day, tickets are sold ten days in advance). If you are adventurous, you can go to the train station to purchase your tickets yourself. This is not adviced, however, because train stations are among the chaotic spots in Chinese cities. This can be rather disconcerting to foreigners who do not know local situations too well. For a small fee you can find a travel service to purchase the tickets for you and save yourself from standing in the long lines at the stations. Some hotels also make such arrangements for their guests, again for a small fee.
Most trains from Yiwu to Shanghai are transiting ones and therefore may not have many seats available to those who board at Yiwu station. There is one train that originate from Yiwu to goes to Shanghai. See if you can get a ticket for that train. If you do go to a train station, stay away from individuals who try to sell their tickets at higher prices. The tickents they sell may not be real ones.
