Answer to One China Travel Question
|
| | Q: What's the weather in China this time?
| | A: China is a large country, so weather in different parts of the country can vary significantly. Hainan Island is warm even in winter times, for instance, and it is chilly in Tibet almost all the time. For the most part, weather is temperate and seasonal. Spring and Fall are generally considered the best time to visit China (April and May, September and November), but weather is certainly endurable too in other months (think about it, 1.3 billion people live there day in and day out).
Average temperature in Beijing in April and May range from 5 to 22 C (approximately 50 to 70 F); in Shanghai, roughly 15 to 23 (60 to 75); in Hong Kong, 21 to 26 (70 to 80). Depending where you're going, you may want to bring along sportcoasts, light woolen jackets and sweaters, long-leave shirts, short-leave shirts, T-shirts, skirts (for ladies only!). But clothing is not all that expensive in China, so surely you can pick up a couple of things there if you really need them. Unless, of course, you're super-sized. On second thought, Yao Ming came from China, didn't he.
