Answer to One China Travel Question

Q: Hi, L'm a Singaporean and will travel to Hong kong for a holiday. I am thinking to drop by Guangzhou for 2 days or so. Do i need a visa to enter Guangzhou from Hong Kong? My flight will land in Hong Kong and I will most probably take the express coach bus over to Guangzhou. Is visa still required? How and where can I apply for it? How long does it take? Thanks.

A: Holders of ordinary passports of Singapore can visit China without visa if their stay is no longer than 15 days. (This treatment also applies to citizens of Japan and Brunei). Singaporean citizens can also stay in Hong Kong up to 90 days without visa.

If your stay in China proper is longer than 15 days, you need to have a visa. You can either apply at the Chinese consulates or diplomatic missions closest to you, or you can apply for your visa while you're in Hong Kong. Agencies such China Travel Services in Hong Kong can process China visa applications. Travelers can get their visa in one to three days.

There are border check points between Hong Kong and China proper, and travelers required to show their passport and or visa when they cross to enter or leave China proper.

Double check to make all the information is up to date.
