Not really. The tour that your travel agency offers usually includes an English-speaking guide, who will be with you on your tour. Also, English is widely taught in China, so it shouldn’t all that hard to find a youngster who speaks some English, at least in urban areas. In fact, many young Chinese are eager to speak with foreign visitors to practice their English. On the other hand, it obviously does not hurt to pick up some basic Chinese before you go on the trip.
