The second phase of the Yangtze River Dam Project was completed last year, and cruise ships are now traversing the 5-step shiplocks. As an engineering feat it is without parallel, but more importantly, it makes the river more navigable, opening up new and spectacular scenery along this, the third longest river in the world.
